Are you looking for an entry level teacher training program? Or, just looking to further your yoga practice and personal well being? This is a new 2015 offering of our established 200-hour Tandava Yoga Teacher Training Intensive. It is a classic yoga teacher training, and unique in its transformational work. At the same time, it is addressing a widespread, well documented problem for many in our 21st Century; STRESS. We will be utilizing the state of the art techniques in stress reduction and mindfulness to support you personally, and perhaps you as a teacher. We will create a personal understanding of stress, stress patterns and behavior. As well we will substantiate the powerful practices in yoga, with current research and data in brain and behavioural science. While utilizing the age old wisdom of yoga. Including; the many facets of teaching yoga, from asana and pranayama to the internal practices of stilling the mind and attuning to the subtleties of the energy body.

It begins often as a desire to teach or deepen an understanding of yoga, and then once the program begins, it becomes a journey. Many students report that the power of this program, and ultimately the ability to lead and help others, comes from the personal exploration and development which are inherent in this program. Ultimately, that journey and the wisdom it develops are the greatest asset to bring to the community. To help others with their stress, we must first be willing and able to look at our own. We do all of this work supported by all of the breakthrough information unfolding in brain science. The wisdom traditions of yoga are now being confirmed and affirmed by the body of science supporting the benefits of yoga for stress.
Knowledge comes not only from theories or prescribed methods but from on-going practice and exploration. As an integrated practice on and off the mat, this training becomes a catalyst for physical healing, psychological growth and spiritual awakening. The Tandava style of yoga deeply influences our program with a foundation in personal development and bringing your practice into everyday life.

About Uchita (Sonya) Thomlinson:
Uchita (Sonya) Thomlinson managing director and co-founder of Tandava Yoga, has been an avid student of yoga since 1994. Sonya lived and studied at the acclaimed Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Western Massachusettes from 1998-2003, studying with revered teachers such as Yoganand Michael Carrol, Shiva Rea, Donna Farhi, Stephen Cope, Rodney Yee, Angela Farmer, Rod Stryker, Erich Schiffman, Emily Conrad, Julia Butterfly Hill, Thomas Ashley Farrand, Ana Forrest and many more.
From 2000-2003 Sonya was Director of Program Operations for Kripalu Center, producing over 500 yoga, meditation, and health workshops and trainings per year, as well as International conferences.
In 2003 Sonya completed Landmark Education’s Graduate Programs in NYC and Boston and became a certified Holistic Health Counselor from the acclaimed Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC. She has been offering vegetarian, vegan and raw food classes in Massachusetts and BC for over 11 years.
Sonya has studied with Richard Miller and completed Advanced Training (Level 2) in iRest Yoga Nidra, and is also an Advanced certified Amrit Method Yoga Nidra facilitator.
Sonya has been co-directing Tandava Yoga’s 200, 300, and 500 Hour Yoga Teacher Training programs since 2004. Her practice on and off the mat continues to evolve with the nondual teachings of Michael Singer and Gurudev Shri Amritji (Yogi Amrit Desai) with whom she was initiated by in 2012 with the name Uchita.
About Harshad (Jeff) Thomlinson:

Co-owner and director of Tandava Yoga in Kelowna, Jeff began teaching yoga in 1991. For 10 years, he lived, studied and worked at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Stockbridge, MA, USA, the largest yoga teaching center in North America. This enabled him to study with international leaders in yoga and to assimilate leading teaching and practicing techniques.
Jeff is a senior massage therapist and is a graduate from the Alexandar School of Natural Therapeutics for massage. Jeff is also a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York, a vanguard in the field of holistic nutrition and health.
Jeff’s training and work experience began a passionate inquiry into mentoring and coaching as an additional tool to support yoga student development. He began creating innovative yoga programs and yoga teacher trainings and currently develops and co-directs the 200, 300, and 500 hour training programs through Tandava Yoga, and has trained over 425 teachers in these programs.
Jeff is also a former air traffic controller and small business start-up GM.
